I’ve tested the top chat plugins on the market. While they are impressive in their features, they all commit the same sin: bloat. They tend to load heavy scripts on every single page, dragging down your site’s performance even when the chat isn’t being used.
I’m fixing that. I am officially starting development on a Lightweight Chat Plugin. The goal is ruthless simplicity and zero drag on your site speed.
The Backstory: I have actually built a chat system before. It was a server-side app you could drop the interface into a Custom HTML block on any site. It was fast and effective, and capable of connecting multiple sites, but the code was lost to time.
The Promise: I’m building this to solve my own problem, but if it works as well as I think it will, I’m releasing it to the community.
The New Plan: I’m rebuilding it from scratch as a proper, native WordPress plugin.
